About the Special Education Parent Mentor
Rockdale County Public School System's (RCPS) Parent Mentor help provide parents of students with disabilities information, guidance, and resource to support students at home, school and in our communities.
My name is Sirena Graves the Special Education Parent Mentor for RCPS, I have the privileged of being available to assist you as you guide your child through his or her school career. My two boy's are currently receiving benefits from our special education services in RCPS. As a parent of children who experience various challenges, I understand and can provide support to parents in various ways. Supporting success and better outcomes for students with disabilities, I will work to build a bridge between parents, administrators, and teachers. My plans are to strive to help families find positive solutions and support collaboration with your child's teachers and school administrators.
I graduated from Heritage High School Class of 1986. I am one of the Co-Founders of the Rockdale County Autism Support Group, Coach for Special Olympics and a Parent 2 Parent Mentor. I am very active and love to participate in our community.
Parent Mentors provide information about transition planning, agencies that support individuals with disabilities, Medicaid waivers, special education issues, support groups, disability funding resources, community resources, and other information related to disabilities and special education.
