The mission of the ESOL program is to provide a diverse population of non-native speakers of English a variety of courses, activities, and events, which can help them eliminate linguistic barriers.

The vision of the ESOL program is to be a world-class learning community where all English Learners reach English proficiency and graduate college or career ready in a progressive and interconnected society.

We achieve this mission and vision through:

- Individualized schedule planning for English Learners

- A diverse range of high school courses to teach and support academic and language objectives

- Integration of the WIDA English Language Development (ELD) Standards with the Georgia Standards of Excellence

- Consistent demonstration of the 6 Principles of Exemplary Instruction for English Learners

- Expanded community engagement aimed and celebrating the cultures and languages of all students

ESOL services are provided at the following schools:

English Learners who are zoned to attend schools where direct ESOL services are not provided have the option to attend a designated ESOL school to receive ESOL support. Transportation is available to all English Learners who take advantage of this opportunity.

All kindergarten students who qualify for ESOL services remain in their home schools. Kindergarten classroom teachers are provided ESOL support, strategies and interventions by the Kindergarten ESOL Coach.

High School Transcripts

It is very important for incoming high school English Learners to bring official transcript information from their former schools when enrolling in RCPS. Transcripts provide RCPS with the information needed to determine any previously earned credits and assist in creating a class schedule. Students may bring transcripts with them to the registration office or have it mailed to the appropriate high school.
