As we continue to monitor our local public health data to inform our mitigation strategies, we need to be able to reasonably determine student vaccination rates within our school district.  This survey will give the district  a sense of our student vaccination rates.  In consultation with our General Counsel, I want to be clear that participation in this survey is strictly voluntary, and it does not ask any personally identifiable information (e.g. Name, School, Grade, etc.).  I will reserve the right to push out this survey on a few more occasions as we progress through this new school year to determine any shifts in our student vaccination rates. As a school district, we continue to provide COVID-19 testing free to our students, staff, and their families, and we continue to offer vaccine access events targeting our students that are eligible for vaccination (age 12 and up), with one such event scheduled for Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Rockdale Career Academy from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Keep in mind that there is currently no vaccine available to our school-aged children under 12-years-old, which for Rockdale County Public Schools means that approximately 40 to 44% of our school-aged children do not currently have access to a vaccine until such vaccines have been developed and initially approved by the FDA. All of our current mitigation strategies (e.g. masks, reasonable physical distancing, and hand washing) remain in place as we continue to carefully monitor our local public health data to include vaccination rates.
