Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) provides Related Services to ensure that students with disabilities receive the supports necessary to access and benefit from their individualized special education programs. These services are designed to help students achieve success in the general education curriculum and school environment.

Related services are determined through the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team meetings and are based on each student’s unique needs. Services are provided by certified or licensed professionals who collaborate with families, teachers, and other support staff to promote student growth and independence.

Examples of Related Services provided by RCPS Include:

  • Occupational Therapy – Helps students develop or improve fine motor, sensory processing, and daily living skills needed for school participation.
  • Physical Therapy – Addresses mobility, balance, and physical access within the educational setting to ensure safe participation in school activities.
  • Transportation – Ensures students with disabilities have access to and from school and school-related activities when standard transportation cannot meet their needs.
  • Orientation and Mobility Services – Assists students with visual impairments in developing skills to navigate school and community environments safely and independently.
  • Audiology Services – Supports students with hearing needs through identification, monitoring, and consultation to improve communication and learning.
  • Assistive Technology (AT) – Provides tools, devices, and technology supports that enable students with disabilities to access instruction, communicate effectively, and participate fully in school activities. The IEP team considers assistive technology needs for every student during the IEP process.
