Eligibility
To enroll in a Georgia Pre-K class within Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS), a child must be 4 years old by September 1 of the school year. To enroll in the preschool at Rockdale Career Academy (Early Learning Center at RCA), a child must be 3 years old by September 1 of the school year.
How do I apply for Pre-K at Rockdale County Public Schools?
Registration for the Pre-K Lottery for the 2026-2027 school year will be online February 1-28, 2026. The link will be posted at www.rockdaleschools.org/prek. Parents will be notified of their selection by March 9, 2026. Those who are not selected will be placed on a waiting list. Those who are selected will be instructed on their next steps.
What if my child is on a waiting list?
Ga Pre-K limits the size of each classroom to 20 without a waiver. Children will remain on the waiting list and as students withdraw, we will continue to move through the waiting list. If another school in the district has availability, families may enroll students in other schools. Parents may call or email the Department of Early Learning any time to inquire about their child's position on the waiting list. The waitlist is managed by Sara Santoyo ssantoyo@rockdale.k12.ga.us at 770-388-5677 x 31159.

How to Enroll
Pre-K lottery applications are accepted in February for the following school year. We selected 20 students for each class through a random drawing process. Those applicants not selected in the drawing were placed on a waiting list. For more information about Pre-K lottery registration and enrollment, contact Sara Santoyo at ssantoyo@rockdale.k12.ga.us .
If selected, families will receive more information on next steps. For a list of the documents you will need to submit after being selected, please CLICK HERE for the Student Registration webpage.
Students not initially selected may complete an application to be placed on the waiting list by clicking here. Students that registered for the lottery and were not accepted do not need to submit a duplicate application.
Why not enroll all who apply?
At this time, the state of Georgia does not offer a "universal Pre-K" program. The Georgia Lottery provides the funding for the Pre-K programs. Funding for classes is provided to both public school and private providers. The Georgia Department of Education awards classes based on applications from the different providers. Decisions to award classes are based on the number of private and public providers in the area, the number of children needing service, and the funds available for that year. RCPS submits applications each year for additional cases based on available space and the number of students on waiting lists form the different schools.
Which RCPS schools have a Georgia Pre-K class?
All 11 RCPS elementary schools currently provide at least one Georgia Pre-K class. Two additional Pre-K classrooms are hosted at Rockdale Career Academy. Most of these classes can serve a maximum of 20 students.
Will school lunches be provided?

Will families have the opportunity to have an Open House this year?
Open House dates will be at your child's elementary school location. Please check your child's school's website (CLICK HERE) for specific dates and times. Your child's teacher can also assist with this information.
How will children requiring special education receive services?
Please contact READY Program Lead Teacher for Compliance Kasha King at kking1@rockdale.k12.ga.us or 770-483-4410 ext. 14133 for assistance with eligibility questions. This is a service that is available for children ages birth-5 years old.
Is it possible for my child to repeat Georgia Pre-K this school year?
Current students who are repeating Pre-K next year are identified by the teacher and site director. For more information, contact Ms. Miller at smiller2@rockdale.k12.ga.us
Will RCPS offer a virtual option for Pre-K for the 2025-2026 school year?
Pre-K will be in-person for the 2026-2027 school year. School will begin for students on August 3, 2026. Click here for the school year calendar. Rockdale County Public Schools does not offer virtual Pre-K, but should you need academic support please reach out to our First Steps Coordinator, Amy Owens, at aowens24@rockdale.k12.ga.us).

¿Por qué no inscribir a todos los que aplican?
