Dual Enrollment

The deadline to apply for Dual Enrollment 2026-27 was February 13, 2026 and the extended deadline was March 13, 2026.   

• GAfutures.org (to complete the 2026-2027 dual enrollment funding application).  Please note: The 2026-2027 DE funding application will not open until February 26, 2026 (revised date), or later. If you complete a funding application before February 1, 2026, it will not be active for the 2026-2027 school year.

The deadline to enroll in DE summer courses is May 1. You have until May 1 to choose your summer DE classes, but only if you are currently a dual enrollment student or if you met the original or late application deadlines of February 13 and March 13. If you did not apply to the college by one of our deadlines, it is too late to take summer DE classes.  You must have approval from your home school counselor prior to enrolling in summer courses if you want them to be entered on your high school transcript. Your counselor will give you a summer DE advisement form for you and your parent/guardian to complete.

You must discuss online classes with your home school counselor so that these classes can be placed on your high school schedule. Online DE classes fill up quickly with the undergraduates at our RCPS partner colleges; therefore, your home school counselor needs to know to communicate this with the DE Advisers at our partner schools so you can be scheduled accordingly.

 

Please make sure to do your research to know whether or not your college(s) of interest for your undergraduate studies will accept your DE credits.

• In-person DE classes for Clayton State University, GPTC are taught at RCA. Transportation is provided by RCPS.

• Students may take DE classes at non-RCPS partner colleges, but students must take those classes online or provide their own transportation to the campus, and those classes must fit within their high school schedule and class start times.

• No student will be scheduled for a DE course without counselor approval.

PARENT/GUARDIAN FYI:

▪ FERPA does not allow parents/guardians to access student records unless the student has submitted a FERPA waiver to the college. This waiver allows records to be shared re: admissions, registration, grades, financial aid records, and tuition and fees.

▪ A FERPA waiver does not mean a DE instructor will communicate with a parent/guardian about a student’s late work, missing assignments, and/or attendance; that is the student’s responsibility.

▪ 504s and IEPs do not automatically transfer to the college setting. Students with a 504 or IEP are responsible for submitting their paperwork through the college’s Office of Disability Services.

▪ The expectation is that DE students will follow all RCPS’ guidelines for attendance; some colleges have a grade penalty if a student misses a certain amount of class (see class syllabus).

▪ The colleges communicate with students via their college email address only, so it is imperative that students check it often.

▪ DE funding will be denied if a student does not have a completed DE funding application, Selective Services (males turning 18), and/or have their SSN on file with GAfutures and the college.

▪ The maximum number of hours covered by DE funding is 15 hours per semester/12 hours per quarter, and the total number of hours covered by DE is 30 semester hours and 45 quarter hours. Please know, it is the student’s responsibility to monitor funding hours.

▪ DE funding will no longer be available after a student’s second withdrawal from a DE course.

▪ DE funding covers tuition only; students are responsible for any additional fees, such as supplemental texts, supplies, or lab fees.

▪ Students are responsible for checking the NCAA/NAIA eligibility for athletic purposes.

▪ Failure to pass a DE course may impact a student’s graduation if the course credit is needed for graduation and the student has not recovered the credit in some other way by the time final graduation credits are tallied.

▪ Students are responsible for sending their DE college transcript to the future colleges of their choice (if they want to seek transfer credit).

▪ Noncompliance with immunizations may impact a student’s enrollment with the college; only students enrolled in RCPS can be enrolled in courses with our partner colleges.
