PLEASE NOTE: School records, including student discipline reports, are required for all enrolling 7th - 12th graders. If you are able to provide records from your child's previous school or help us in obtaining those records, enrollment can be expedited. Thank you!

Registration Information

Student Registration for new and re-enrolling students is required to be completed through the district’s secure Online Registration system.  Once you have completed the online application be sure to “Submit” for processing by Student Registration. 

Change of Address and Emergency Contact changes are submitted through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to be completed by the enrolling parent/guardian.

New Students & Re-Enrolling Students

The person registering the student is considered the “Enrolling Parent/Guardian” and MUST be either:

1) Named on the birth certificate,
2) Have official guardianship papers, or
3) Complete a notarized RCPS Non-Parental or Kinship Caregiver Affidavit (available at Student Registration, 960 Pine St. NE, Conyers, GA).


NEW STUDENTS

Students new to RCPS must complete an Online Registration (OLR) application (CLICK HERE or see button below). 

Submit the required documents and 2 current proofs of residency by uploading a photo or scan of the documents into the OLR application.  Be sure that photos or scans are clear and readable.

RE-ENROLLING STUDENTS

Students who previously attended an RCPS school must re-enroll through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal if either of the following categories apply:

1) Withdrawn from RCPS for more than 30 days.

2) Attended school in another district/state since withdrawal date.

Submit 2 current proofs of residency (and school records if applicable) by uploading a photo or scan of the documents into the Parent Portal.  

If the student is re-enrolling within 30 days to the same school and has not attended another school or changed addresses, you may contact the school directly for re-enrollment.



STUDENT ENTERING FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY OR STATE OR HOME SCHOOL

If you are registering a child from another country, out of state, or home school program, please obtain their records (last report card, transcript, discipline for Grades 7-12).  These records can be uploaded to the OLR application or submitted directly to the Student Registration office during walk-in assistance hours.


PART-TIME HOME STUDY ENROLLMENT “DEXTER MOSLEY” ACT (Grades 6-12)

Procedure for home study/home schooled students to participate in Extracurricular and Interscholastic Activities:

Rockdale County Public Schools recognizes home study students will be afforded the opportunity to participate in extracurricular and interscholastic activities in the student’s resident public school system.  In accordance with Senate Bill 42: The Dexter Mosely” Act, a home schooled student may enroll in a qualifying course at his/her designated school within the attendance area of the student’s custodial parent’s primary residence and participate in extracurricular or interscholastic activities, subject to certain terms and conditions.  A ”qualifying course” means an on-site or online course facilitated by RCPS, or a Dual-Enrollment course.

Parent/Guardian must complete:

1) OLR application and upload required documents; AND
2) a “Home Study Part-time Enrollment Participation Declaration for Middle and High School” application (CLICK HERE).  




Pre-K & Kindergarten

PRE-K ENROLLMENT

Children who will be 4 years old by September 1 in the school year are eligible to register for the RCPS Georgia Pre-K Lottery.  For deadline and more information, CLICK HERE.
 
Enrollment into the Pre-K program must be pre-approved by the Early Learning Center (ELC). Please do not complete an OLR application unless directed by ELC. Please contact ELC at 770-388-5677 x-31159.


KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT

A child must be 5 years old on or before September 1 to enter a public Kindergarten. The child must be 6 years old on or before September 1 to enter first grade. School systems must verify age before enrollment. A child who was a legal resident of one or more states or countries for a period of two years immediately prior to moving to Georgia and who was legal enrolled in either a public or private kindergarten or first grade accredited by a state or regional association, would be eligible to enroll in Georgia schools, provided that the kindergartner is 5 years old by December 31 or the first grader is 6 by December 31.  For more information on kindergarten registration, CLICK HERE.

To create your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account, CLICK HERE. You will need your child's social security number and student number. To obtain your child's student number, contact your child's school.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS

All student address changes within RCPS must be validated by the Student Registration office.  Please make changes through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal by uploading 2 current proofs of residency.  The Student Registration office will process your request and you will receive an email confirmation.  Change of Address requests sent by email will not be accepted.

To add or delete emergency contacts, please make changes through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal. The Student Registration office will process your request and you will receive an email confirmation.

What is my school attendance zone or the school my child is assigned to attend?

What if I change my address within the county?
All student address changes within RCPS must be validated by the Student Registration office. Please make changes through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal and upload 2 current proofs of residency (CLICK HERE). The Student Registration office will process your request and you will receive an email confirmation. Change of Address requests sent by email will not be accepted. 


Do I need to re-register my child if they are going from elementary to middle school or middle to high school within the county? 
No, students already attending a school in RCPS and advancing from elementary to middle school [5th to 6th grade] or middle to high school [8th to 9th grade] do not need to re-register.


What is the entry age for Pre-K, Kindergarten, and First Grade?
Pre-K – Child must be 4 years old by September 1st of the school year.
Kindergarten – Child must be 5 years old by September 1st of the school year. (Board Policy JBCA: Resident Students)
First Grade – Child must be 6 years old by September 1st of the school year. (Board Policy JBCA: Resident Students)


How do I register my child for RCPS Georgia Pre-K?

What is the Early Learning Center (ELC) and how do I apply?

What vaccinations / immunization schedule does my child need to register for school?

What if I do not have a transcript or discipline record for my child?
Previous school records such as the most recent report card, withdrawal form from previous school, and/or transcripts are essential to enrollment and proper placement of students. All students entering Grades 7-12 must have a discipline record from their previous school system. Without these documents enrollment may be delayed.


Who is allowed to withdraw a student from a school system?
The enrolling parent/guardian is the only person who can withdraw the student. Please see the Official Code of Georgia Annotated (O.C.G.A.) § 20-2-780. "Change of custody of minor child by removing child from premises of private or public school prohibited."


What is Specialty and Choice at RCPS and how can I apply for that?
RCPS Specialty and Choice programs are specialized programs and academies housed within schools that focus on areas such as STEM, STEAM, arts, language immersion, engineering, technology, and pre-medical sciences.  RCPS students can apply for a middle school and high school Specialty and Choice program regardless of their school zone. There may be more applicants than seats available and some programs require an audition. The application time is normally November and December for the following school year. This is separate from Non-Traditional programs such as the Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology, Open Campus, or Rockdale Career Academy, which have different application processes and different deadlines.  For more information about Non-Traditional programs, contact the school/program.  For more information about RCPS Specialty and Choice programs, CLICK HERE or visit www.rockdaleschools.org/specialtyandchoice.


How do I apply for full-time virtual school for my child?

What is the enrollment process for students returning from a Department of Juvenile Justice placement?
If a student has completed his or her sentence in a youth detention center and he or she is returning to the local education agency, the student must re-register at Student Registration. Pursuant to Georgia Department of Education Rule 160-4-8-.17, a case management consultation team (school and involved local law enforcement agency personnel) will schedule a meeting with you to determine the best placement for your child.

What should I do if my child is homeschooled or attends private school and I would like to request a special education evaluation?
Students who reside in Rockdale County and are homeschooled or who attend private schools located in Rockdale County can be evaluated for special eligibility. The first step in this process is to contact Learning Support at 770-860-4231. An online registration application will be required as well as parent/guardian ID, student birth certificate, and residency documents for homeschooled students.
