Parent Academy returns to Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) on September 23, 2017 for its 13th semester of improving lives. The half-day event offers free classes for parents, teens and tweens at Rockdale Career Academy (RCA), 1064 Culpepper Road, Conyers, Georgia from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Online registration is at www.rockdaleschools.org/parentacademy

Class topics range from improving computer skills, financial planning, CPR, helping your kids with today’s math, exercise, art creation, de-stressing, preparing for standardized testing and more – all focused on helping parents and students become successful in life. Classes for families with special needs and Spanish-speaking families are also available.

Parent Academy Coordinator Darci Gilreath said she is proud of what Parent Academy has been able to provide for thousands of families who have attended previous sessions.

“There are a wide variety of classes that address a wide range of needs, and people from the community volunteer their time to deliver this valuable information,” said Gilreath. “There’s something for everyone, whether it’s getting help figuring out your next step in life, figuring out how to talk to your teenager, or just figuring out what to make for dinner.”

The day also includes free lunch and door prizes, with a special door prize drawing after the keynote address and an extra chance to win for those who pre-register.

Childcare is provided for children age 3 and older for parents who pre-register. Families with children with special needs requesting childcare must contact Sirena Graves at [email protected] or 770-918-6187 ext. 33187.

Parents can also browse local businesses and non-profits in the vendors market.

Vendors interested in participating and reaching parents should contact Darci Gilreath at [email protected] or 770-918-6174 x33174
