Dismissal Delayed Aug. 21, 2017 for Solar Eclipse
Posted on 08/28/2017
Due to the solar eclipse on August 21, 2017, Rockdale County Public Schools will delay dismissal of elementary, middle and high school students. The peak time to experience the solar eclipse is during our regularly scheduled elementary school afternoon transportation times. Subsequently, high schools and middle schools will delay dismissal as well.

Safety is our first priority. This delayed dismissal will ensure that neither students nor employees are on the roadways during the time of the eclipse.

RCPS August 21 Dismissal Times:
ES:     3:00 p.m.
HS:     3:45 p.m.
MS:    4:30 p.m.

Parents are welcome to check out their children earlier than the delayed dismissal time if they so choose. However, no check outs will be allowed during the peak time of 2:15 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

All schools will start as normally scheduled on August 21.

Schools will be provided with further guidance and instructional resources as appropriate.
