Superintendent's Message: Saluting our Heroes on Veterans Day 2017
Superintendent Richard AutryWhat is a hero?

We all possess our own thoughts and opinions as to what makes a hero.  For many, it is a parent or relative who has showered you with a lifetime of unconditional love and nurture.  For others, it was that teacher or coach who made you believe in yourself and pushed you to be more than you ever thought you could become.  Still for others, it was that larger-than-life figure who modeled the ideals, the character, the bravery and the standards of success that we value and cherish most.

But I would submit to you that the men and women of our armed services meet the definition of HERO for ALL of us, regardless of our backgrounds or affiliations.  Most, if not all of us have family and/or friends who have served or are serving our country so that we can enjoy the freedoms and life we lead today.  We all recognize that "Freedom isn’t Free."  So today, let us recognize and thank our veterans and active military personnel.  For these brave and humble men and women, a simple thank you is all that is necessary.  It requires so little from us… but means so much to them!

Happy Veterans Day.  On this day, we thank you and salute you!
