Emergency FAQs:

What should I do if my child experiences a medical emergency during the independent learning period?
If your child experiences a medical emergency, contact 911 immediately. It is important that you provide all relevant and appropriate medical information to those who will be responsible for caring for your children.

What should I do if my child expresses an emotional or mental health need during remote learning days?
If your child experiences, or expresses symptoms of, an emotional or mental health need, you should contact the Georgia Crisis and Access Line (GCAL) at 1-800-715-4225.  GCAL is a free resource provided to all Georgia Families that aims to provide immediate and qualified mental health assistance and referrals to families. You may also download the MyGCAL app at no cost from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Of course, if you believe that this need is an emergency, contact 911 immediately.

What should I do if I become aware of a child welfare concern?
If you become aware of a concern for a child’s well-being, please contact the Department of Family and Children Services to make a report, 1-855-GA-CHILD (1-855-422-4453).  If you believe that a child is in immediate danger, please call 911.

Who can I call if I need specific resources?
United Way 211 can point you in the right direction of resources you may need (food, utility, housing, etc.). Call 211 to reach United Way's resource directory.
Or check the RCPS Community and Student Support - Community Resources page.
