RCPS Score Tops State for 3rd Year in CCRPI
Posted on 12/10/2016
Conyers, GA - State School Superintendent Richard Woods today released the Georgia College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) which measures schools and school districts on a 100 point scale. These scores are based on data from the 2015-16 school year.

The state’s average score for each level is:
State Average – 73.6
Elementary School – 71.7
Middle School – 71.5
High School – 75.7

Rockdale County Public Schools’ results points are:
District – 74.2
Elementary School – 79
Middle School – 71.2
High School – 69.6

“We are pleased that our district average remains above the state for the third consecutive year,” says Superintendent Richard Autry. “Our elementary schools remain well above the state average and our middle schools remain consistent with the state average. However, there is still continued work to be done with an emphasis on the secondary level. This CCRPI score is based on student performance on the Milestones from the last school year. Upon receiving those test results last spring, we immediately began the work of analyzing data. While our high school graduation rate indicates more students are graduating on time, and is well above the state average, we must close the gap on CCRPI performance at the high school level. Measures for improvement have already been implemented for the current school year, however; we will continue to adjust our work as necessary and will celebrate our successes at all levels. I am grateful for all of our teachers, students, administrators and support staff who are willing to work hard and continue to focus on excellence in teaching and learning.”

The Georgia Department of Education explains that CCRPI is Georgia’s statewide accountability system, implemented in 2012 to replace No Child Left Behind’s Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) measurement, after the U.S. Department of Education granted Georgia’s waiver from NCLB. It measures schools and school districts on a 100-point scale based on multiple indicators of performance, helping parents and the public better understand how schools are performing in a more comprehensive manner than the pass/fail system previously in place under AYP.
