We honor and highlight the triumphs, movements, heritages, cultures, struggles and achievements of African-Americans & global African diaspora past and present in order to inspire the future. Here are just a few of the events, activities, and resources throughout the district:

Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology:
•    Celebrating the theme "honor the past, celebrate the present, and inspire the future", Magnet Ambassadors are creating a time capsule on 2-2-22 to be opened by students on 3-3-33. Students are sharing physical mementos of their current and past experiences in hopes of inspiring current 1st graders when they are seniors on 3-3-33.
•     Black History Month Celebration on Friday, February 18, 2022, presented by the RMSST Black STEM Student Union.
•    Students are creating art to expand our internal galleries as part of the second annual "RMSST Celebrate Black Culture Art Contest"
•    Student leaders are celebrating a Black innovator daily on the morning announcements
•    Magnet Book Club is celebrating Lit Week and Black History Month by highlighting Black authors in a different genre daily January 31st-February 4th including a Goosechase Scavenger Hunt and asynchronous Padlet board.
•    Magnet Student Council is sharing quotes from Black Leaders on kindness, gratitude, and service daily as part of radio broadcast sketches performed during Heart Week February 14th-18th with all students receiving small gifts related to the day's theme.

Conyers Middle School:
The Tuskegee Airmen Traveling Exhibit from Kennesaw State Museum will be on display at Conyers Middle School for student tours with their teachers.


Lorraine Elementary:
Black History Month Spirit Week.

Black Music and Art History.
Reading aloud books by African-American authors.


Hightower Trail Elementary:
"602 Tour of Love Black History Exhibit" - an interactive, COVID-compliant display using a self-tour option. All you need is a cell phone or QR code reader.  Begin by scanning the code on the mailbox outside of the door. Then scan each QR coded heart for Flipgrid reports created by Ms. Denmark's students.
