Grade 2 - WWW.ART: Wacky, Whimsical, & Wondrous Artwork for the young at heart. Second grade students will learn about some of the most unique, silly, playful, child-like artists that have ever been. Students will get art history lessons about Walt Disney, Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss), Friedensreich Hundertwasser (the Dr. Seuss of architecture), and Wayne Thiebaud (master of painting cake, ice cream, etc). Then students will make their own cartoons, comics, poetry, and masterpieces inspired by these imaginative artists.
Grade 3 - Accept the Challenge! Makers 101: This will be a week full of challenges. Any future architects? Will your structure meet the standards and hold more weight than anyone else’s? How are you at designing commands for a robot? And for you speedsters--will yours be the fastest vehicle? If you’re ready to accept the challenges, we’ll see you at Enrichment Camp!
Grade 4 - Rock ‘n Roll to the White House: Students will explore the role of music and the arts in American Presidential politics. Explore the concept of parody and how it’s demonstrated in political campaign songs and recognize how these parodies communicate a point of view about the political candidate. You will each create your own parody songs and perform them for the class.
Grade 5 - The Lion King Experience: The Lion King Experience is an immersive, project-based exploration of theater-making. Each sessions launches with a video introducing the day's theme, followed by a full group activity. Next, students work in groups - called Prides - to solve a creative challenge. The Prides share their work, reflect as a group, and learn from one another. The sessions will explore activities in acting, design, music, choreography, playwriting, and more! Hakuna Matata!
