Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) Changes in PLU Requirements for Certificate Renewal


Excerpt from Georgia House Bill 164
SECTION 1.
Code Section 20-2-200 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to the regulation of certificated professional personnel by the Professional Standards Commission, is amended by revising paragraphs (4) and (4.1) of subsection (b) as follows:"(4) Requirements for certification renewal shall be established to foster ongoing professional learning, enhance student achievement, and verify standards of ethical conduct; provided, however, that from July 1, 2010, through June 30, 2017, no professional learning requirements shall be required for certificate renewal for clear renewable certificates for certificated personnel or for certificate renewal for paraprofessionals.

Cancellations

A minimum enrollment is required for each class. Courses or workshops that fail to reach the minimum will be cancelled. You will be notified only if the course/workshop is full or has been cancelled.

The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable unless the course is cancelled by this department.


FAQs

How do I register for a course?
Log-on to PDX  and click on COURSE CATALOG to see the courses that are currently available. If you click on a course, you see a detail of the course description, and as you scroll down the page, you see the meeting dates, times and locations. If you click the REGISTER button, you will be taken through the PayPal procedure for course payment.

What do I do with college credits I've received?
Simply send a copy of any college transcripts to the Human Resources Department at the Central Office.  The PSC recognizes college credit verified on this official transcripts.


Non-Employee Registration

​We are happy to accept registrations for our currently advertised courses from non-employees or substitutes employed by Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) on a space-available basis. This includes any certified individual not under contract to RCPS. Procedures, fees, and guidelines are outlined below. Only certified employees who are continuing under contract with RCPS are eligible to receive a stipend, where applicable.

Registration is handled through PayPal. Non-employees pay a course fee of $60.00 per ten hours of credit. This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, unless the course is canceleld by the department.

Non-employees wishing to register should click on this link -pdx2 - and choose the "Request a Guest ID" link that is there. Fill in all fields and submit your request.

After the department receives your request for a Guest ID, you will receive confirmation by e-mail that you have been given access to our course catalog and can then log in to register for courses. You can also print an official transcript for any courses you may have taken with RCPS.

Registration Policy

  • Course registration for employees of Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) is conducted through the link provided directly above.
  • Registration fees are now handled through PayPal and are non-refundable/non-transferable unless a course is cancelled.

  • Employees needing to cancel a course registration, should contact Christal Moore - 770-388-5677, ext. 31313.

  • There is a $25.00 fee for full-time RCPS employees taking endorsement courses.

  • A minimum enrollment is required for each class. Courses or workshops that fail to reach the minimum will be notified by e-mail.

  • Non-employees: Certified and Classified personnel from other systems may register on a space-available basis. Non-employees will pay a $60 per ten hour fee.

  • Teachers at private schools in Rockdale County may register for courses under the same guidelines as RCPS employees.

  • RCPS substitute teachers may register for courses under the same guidelines as RCPS employees.

Title II Part A

Title II, Part A: "Advancing Teacher and Leader Quality"

​The purpose of the Title II, Part A program is to increase academic achievement by improving teacher and principal quality. This program is carried out by: increasing the number of highly qualified teachers in classrooms; increasing the number of highly qualified principals and assistance principals in schools; and increasing the effectiveness of teachers and principals. This increase in effectiveness will improve student academic achievement. School systems work to ensure that all students, especially poor and minority students, have equitable opportunities to be taught by highly effective teachers.
